Week 11

Discovery Exercise
  1. What was your biggest discovery?
The biggest discovery was Marvel it self. I had never explored it myself or used it before this class. I was amazed at the variety of information available to everyone and how easy it is to access the information.
My daughter is a student at UMPI  I asked her if she knew about the rescources that were available through Marvel for the health field . She said she had and used the Marvel system for her classes.
I also liked the information I was able to find for the arts through Marvel this information and the knowledge of how to locate the information will change my teaching.
I also liked taking a class that was completed via a blog format. I have never blogged before. I enjoyed the freedom it allowed with busy lives to complete assignments and read other blogs and ideas other colleages and librarians had.
  1. How will you promote or use the resources with your patrons, colleagues or students?
I have shared information on how to find arts and craft ideas to other colleagues. I also like the variety of periodicals available on Marvel. I teach at the elementary level so I do not see my students using this source directly in my art class. However our computer teacher also took this class so I can see us teaming together through the elementary encyclopedia Britannia and creating a collaborative project. Very excited about the learning avenues available to our students. I am also very happy that our head librarian Susan Cole send out the district email encouraging us to take this class . I think there are ten to twelve staff members in RSU73 that took this Marvelous Invitational.
I think this would make a great class for high school students. So many High schools are having a hard time finding a variety of elective classes . This class and format would be amazing, especially for seniors who are going on to some form of higher education.
